This is a large salt glaze stoneware butter churn….4 gallon…that was probably made in the late 1800’s. A salt glaze churn that was hand thrown on a pottery’s wheel; you can see and feel the ridges on the inside that was left by a very skilled potter.
Condition: very good, especially considering the age of this salt glaze stoneware.

There is a small chip on the top outside edge, which is understandable.

There are firing imperfections that are normal with a piece of stoneware that was made during the time that this churn was made. No top or plunger.
