With too many candles flooding the marketplace, how do you know when one is quality-made?
Use Books on the Pond's "Merchandise Guide":
Must be made from soy (or, but more expensive: beeswax). Chemicals burn into the air and God knows what happens after you inhale them. Worst offenders: drugstore candles from Bed Bath & Beyond and Yankee Candles.
50 hours burn time (make sure you verify). Fifty hours is a lot. 11 oz.
We source from "fair trade" merchants and only sell products that we personally use and have tested.
Made in U.S.A. (sometimes Viet Nam; however, exports quality candles)
No PLASTIC anywhere (obvious reasons: wood and/or aluminium tops are best).
Eucalyptus candles emit a clarifying scent. Leave one burning as you work at the computer. This lovely clean smell helps keep the brain waves free from the blue light and filters other mysterious screen emanations, including people who use all caps when writing angry emails.
Never leave a candle burning and NEVER use a scented candle while eating and/or entertaining.
